Since this is the first event of its kind in this continuum, please note the absence of the word “rules” and the presence of the word “guidelines.” 

If we haven’t told you enough yet: our aim is to foster a playful, spontaneous, and creative space for you to lose/find yourselves in.

With this in mind…
Consider the following Guidelines VERY IMPORTANT in navigating the space we have prepared for you.

RITUALS ARE FUN

Most Indigenous Ceremony is designed to be exhausting, confronting, and overall crisis inducing.  THIS IS A GOOD THING. This IS A CEREMONY.

Be prepared for several hours of Psychological, Physical, and Spiritual Exertion.  THIS. IS. A. GOOD. THING. and THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY FUN.

CEREMONY IS CIRCULAR

Ceremony works best in a circle (usually).
Therefore the floor plan of the evening is a Circle.  And as would only make sense, the greatest amount of energy and focus will be radiating and pulling from the CENTER of that circle.  As the first portion of our evening involves sitting (relatively speaking) in a CIRCLE and on the floor, we ask that those who feel that this might be a bit… tricky… would situate themselves towards the outer rim. Limited seating in chairs will be available in the back for those who specifically and circumstantially require it.

INDIAN STYLE

From India to the Americas, our ancestors sat on the earth when having fun or being serious. We did it in kindergarten,  “Why not bring it back?” we ask… Chairs are overrated.

Ya got a meditation pillow or a favorite blanky for your butt?  By all means bring it.  You don’t want to lug it around? We will have one for sale that can double as a satchel… very functional.  Fill it with all your stuff (or we’ll stuff it for you) and sit on it.  And we’ll make sure it reminds you of us.

THE THREE HOUR TOUR…

The experience begins promptly at 8:00 p.m. doors open @ 6:00 p.m.

If you are not in by eight you will miss out on almost everything -meaning the ritual, the performance, the information, the poetry.  Everything minus the radness of the DJs.  Which will, of course, be ridiculously sick in and of themselves. 

The doors will reopen somewhere between 11:00 and 12:00 for those of you who can’t be on time or too damn scared to do something new and crazy (but of course we are not judging). Basically between 8:00 and 11:00 there are no in-and-outs.

YOU WANT TO BE HERE FOR THIS PORTION OF THE EVENING.  This is the meat.  It is the juice.  It is the nectar.  It is the glue.  It is the portal.  We could go on…

POSTERITY

The evening will be filmed for posterity as well as educational purposes.  So there you have it.  The video will be available for sale post-evening.  However if you were one of those brilliant and courageous souls who partook in the initial happening (meaning the first part of the evening,) you will be able to download a movie for free! Hooray! Instructions to do this will follow later.

COMPLEXITY

This is a completely original and totally appropriated technology.
